All is good! I always have a tape measure with and when I get a fish that looks close to 8'' I measure it, if it's short it goes back. There aren't very many 9'' gills, most that we keep run 8 to 8 1/2''. The red ears that I have kept run from 9 to just over 10 1/2''. The Slough has been able to handle this kind of pressure ever since I started fishing it in the late 70's up until now and there was never a limit. I wish there would have been limits back then, no telling what the fishing would be like now. Not bad for a lake that was meant to be strickly a water fowl lake. :icefish:

mbluka I was just checking the weather for tomorrow, looks like the wind won't be to much of a problem. Hard to do a lot of hole hopping from inside the shack. Just checked the bait that was in the fridge and it looks good. I'll be in the same area as usual, Luke you know where that is. Hope the ice is still good, we lost some over the last week. See you in the AM. BGB

Was at the Slough again today from 7:30 til 2:00. Caught 43 fish, kept 9 gills from 8 to 8 3/4'' and 1 crappie that was 10 1/4''. Starting to get a lot of water on the ice, hope we don't get to much rain this weekend. Fished the same area since Friday, away from the pack.

After this weekends warm up conditions out there seemed a little bit unsafe as I seen a few guys step in open holes and were soaked. Now with a cold front moving in early this week the ice should be all locked up again and then considered safe. Not to many people had there creepers on and they were slipping all over. I fished for about 4 hours and kept 12 decent gills over 8" and tossed back plenty of dinks.

The holes are really rotting out. What started out as a 5" hole in the a.m. became a 7" hole in the afternoon. Should be fine for a while with the cold coming.

135 keepers for 6 guys spread out over the course of an entire day is not a hot bite.  Depending on how long they fished that might only work out to 3 keepers an hour per guy, which shouldn't be enough action to make other fisherman take notice.  I'm not sure why some people found his post so unbelievable.
Catching the lunkers of tomorrow today!

Keith, I can tell you first hand, you can't make everybody happy on this site... you post pics, they want a tape measure or you're bragging, if you don't post a pic your lying.  If you don't say where you're fishing, you're only thinking about yourself, I can keep going, but you get my point.  However, I have met some GREAT people here and it is worth the criticism and the BS that comes with it, in my opinion.  This site is what you make it, so keep posting, and good luck with the rest of your ice season.
I wish I was good at ice fishing!
