Driving EMO to LW mouth
« on: Jan 21, 2010, 12:22 PM »
Looking at driving the red from EMO to the mouth of the lake soon and just wanted to know if there is anything that I should be aware of.  I guess you can say I just want to know if the drive "should" be safe as it will be my first time driving past EMO on the river.

Thanks for the help

the road is supposed to be closed at the beginning of february to start demolishing the cottages. You may have to start at the float base, or goldeye creek. It is very rough further towards the lake. I would go the chalet or warner way myself. May be a bit longer, but easier on your vehicle, and safer too.

Don't waste your time, ice is too frazzled at the mouth of the river to drive onto the lake, unless we get tons of snow to even things out a bit or you drive a tank.

You dont have to start at the float plane base and goldeye creek is in the demolition zone....but you can get on the lake just b4 the gate at willow spring actually a little north of willow.

And like BigGame said....the lake is way too hard to get on from the mouth with all the frazzle ice...it extends about 1.5 to 2 miles out.

thanks guys, looks like this weekend I might be headed out to hecla but next weekend I should be at the mouth - or some where around.
If I head out from chalet road do I just head south east to the shore and follow from there ?

Where ever I end up I'll post my results

Thanks again

Looks like that "tons of snow" is on it's way this weekend, gonna' make things interesting out there!

drove that way yesterday. no problem making it to the lake. the frazzled ice isn't that bad, there's no way that it goes for over a mile. if everyone sticks to the same path it should be fine. lots of the locals from selkirk are already driving up as well. there will be a beaten path there in no time.
