I checked several places myself last week.  Only to find out that the cost of the mouses, add the shipping and they were cheaper at the local bait shop.  For example:  Vados bait mouses were 25.00 per thousand then 22.00 to ship second day air. (required during the cold winter months)
I wish you better luck finding than I had.

See thats the problem, no bait stores within 100 miles sells mousees. My dad and the old timers are alwasy talking how they used to catch 1000's of crappies and bluegills on mousees and now you cant get them anywhere.

There are a few bait shops here in CT that sell them by the 1000.  You can get 1000 for about $30.  Best way to go.  Get a couple of friends to chip and and split them, more than enough to last most of the winter.
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!!

BBK that little bait shop by Credit Island had mousees last year. I tried them above L+D 14 and got a few dinks. I`d stick with maggots were I you. But good luck. I like having mousees in a tough year but last year I didnt have any and did OK.

I just ordered a thousnd maggots from here:

http://www.vadosbait.com/bait/maggot.html

They show their mousies as sold out right now, but I would expect they should have them soon.  I've ordered leeches from them in the summer and have always been happy with the quality.

I fished the tournament back when it was run by ice team it was a lot of fun,me and my son came in tied for 33rd place not bad for not knowing the lake. Plus we wre walking and had just one shanty and a hand auger,I would like to fish it again but I need to up grade a little(4 wheeler, power auger)!!! I think they were having issuse with the tournament a few years back but it looks like it is going strong now which I am glade to see. I got my bait through vados bait last year but the spikes turned on me fast,so I will go with Knutsons this year.I hope they will work out better(Knutsons). OBTW you fish'n it?

Are you going to pre fish it,me and my son did week or so before the tournament and because I was working alot we only got out for one day! What are the rules as far as fish go,when we did it the rules were 15 fish 10 sunfish,5 crappie I bet we caught a 100 gills that day but just one very small crappie(maybe 3" long).

Dinks at LD14? Where were you fishing? I didnt catch many fish there last year but I had a 3 to 1 keeper to little ratio. I found a great spot by crappie bay that was full of them. Also got a bunch of 11"+ crappie.

The mousees we used at 14 were not the same mousees we bought at Credit Island. This was different years. I have had good luck at Okoboji with mousees. I have no idea why some areas the bite mousees and some they dont.

Where did you fish? Cabins? Crappie bay? The crappie hole upriver? Bluff?
