Make sure your hose has no kinks and your tank valve is not plugged.

it's a buddy heater right?? you have to bleed the line longer, hold the nob down longer, then switch it on low.

I hooked mine up to a 20#er this year, did the same thing.  Lights and then goes out.  Did everything I could think of, change filters, tried different appliances, changed the hose, wala!  Try a new hose.

I was told the pressure of the 20#er is highter and when it flows it freeze the little nozzle which plugs it on the heater, so the filter helps to pull out that moister, I guess.

To tell you the truth not really sure. He was told by an older fella that was fishing with us. So he ordered one and hasnt had a problem yet. Maybe call your local heating corp. and ask them. Or im sure someone will tell you on here.

Your hose off a 20#er is under full pressure of the tank. The regulator is in your heater. If any of your inner hose liner has a few specks of debris in it, or is breaking down from bending or pressure this will eventually get to your unit. Some small spaces and orifices in that little heater. Anyway I installed a filter at the buddy unit and have not seen any problems with mine.

Try this.. Turn the tank on slowly ,then turn off and turn back on slowly again.

Tanks with OPD valves have an excess flow built into them and this causes most of the problems with the tanks.

The colder it gets the more they seem to act up!

If you turn the valve on too fast it will lock up and only let a small amount of gas through. When this happens and  you turn it back off you can hear a faint click when you get the valve fully closed.

I can't count how many people have brought tanks in complaining the valves are junk and this is the problem. I've showed my wife i don't know how many times how to light the gas grill and she still has problems with this.

Also the 1lbers are pure fuel and the 20's have a lot of impurities in them so it could clog the heater if you don't have a filter.

THis is right off the website.

Question:
I found an oily substance in my heater, what do I do?

Answer:
If the heater has been contaminated with oil from using any high pressure hose with out our fuel filter, it will have to be disassembled and the following parts replaced or cleaned:

- The regulator or regulators as in the big buddy.
- The control valve.
- All tubes inside the heater removed and flushed of the oily residue.
- The pilot and main burner(s) orifices cleaned.
Using a fuel filter will prevent the future contamination but will not fix the existing contamination.
Heaters that have been contaminated will shut off or not run very long and the above repair is the only way to restore them to dependability
