Well first off thanks for the posts..got it tuned up atleast at idle and she's running great again with nothing more then so fidging of the settings.

I've noticed that she balks for a lack of a better term starting a hole.  Once she starts drilling everything is fine.

Is this a high end setting?   or is this in the gear case?  Almost like it hestates a second then wamo.  YOu can feel the torque but no turn.  Doesnt do it all the time.  I didnt mess with the high end mixture setting at all.   Or is it just cold and needs to warm up a tad longer?   Or is the pilot point dug down into the ice to much starting out?

just sharpened the pilot point and the blade is pretty new so I dont think it has to do with sharpeness.   I also remmeber the auger doing this a few years back.  Didnt fish much last winter after the big D.

After I get my Jiffy started,  I "rev" it a couple of times while holding it in the air.

When it goes back down to idle,  I put the point on the ice and punch right through.
I do this for the first hole, after that it is fine.
It seem like if it is cold, I just need to give it full power (without cutting ice) one time and then it will cut all day.

Hope this helps,

Wiener

I let my Jiffy 2 hp warm up for a couple of minutes before I drill with it. I will usually run it about half throttle until I'm about a foot into the ice and then let her rip. Keeps the shavings off of my boots and cuffs. Maybe you need to take a stone to your blades.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

I'll have to make note of that....try and open it up and then run a hole.

The first hole we ran at half throttle (was letting a newby run a hole) for a bit....I ran the 2nd hole and it happened to me...not sure if it happened to him.
