I use a propane lantern and if it gets too cold a fire up my Mr Buddy heater. I have a Clam Base Camp tent so I'm always on ice and the Mr Buddy does great. By the end of the day the ice has melted smooth so its easy to slip, must keep on ice cleats[ i fell once and got wet]. I am thinking about the hose adapter and a 20lb tank. A 1lb can lasts a while but not the cheapest. A single can at Walmart cost $3 or you can get a two pack for $5.

I'll be trying the Little Buddy this year (if I can ever get out on the ice!). I have high hopes for this little wonder. This is the smallest package rated at 3800 btu I've seen. I love compact and high efficiency for ice fishing.

Single mantle lantern in my scout.  I have a Coleman SportCat if I need additional heat.  Double mantle lantern in the Yukon for light, Mr Buddy small heater for heat.  I also have a Big Buddy that I use in the garage that I can take in the Yukon if it is supposed to be real cold.  I don't normally need that much heat, but my wife does.

I have the Buddy (small), works great in my guide, using the hose adapter and 5lb tank.

If I remember right the Buddy heaters are about $80, but I got mine late last year from Lowes for $40. They put all portable heaters on clearance for 1/2 off. Keep your eyes open for the deal.
