Clam Nanook Help
« on: Dec 25, 2009, 03:37 PM »
Hey, so I got a Nanook for Christmas and am stuck on a step. If anyone could help that would be great. On step 5, when installing the 4 hoop supports into the hoop support brackets, which slots do I use? The instructions don't clearly show which ones to use. There are 5 slots and 4 poles. Thanks, Jeff

I'm guessing you are talking about the bracket on the sled and where the poles screw into? they screw into the inside of the bracket, i just bought a Yukon and found it easy to setup just time consuming, with all the screws and nuts :) it should line up to the holes.
I only fish on days that end with a Y

Yeah that bracket. There is nothing to line up really. There are 4 poles to install but 3 long open slots and then a hole on each side of the 3 slots.

If this is what you are refering too, there are 4 holes for the poles one on the bottom and 3 up, does this help?

The brackets on mine are a bit different. I think I figured it out though, we'll see tomorrow when I attempt to put the tent on haha. Thanks a lot for the replies and pictures though, I appreciate it. -Jeff

No problem glad to help, you will really enjoy it out on the ice :) putting the tent part over top isn't that hard, its the rubber trim that goes around the sleigh and needs to be screwed through the sleigh that is the hardest part, I'm out fishing 1 more day in the Yukon. oh yeah toasty warm with the thermol top

just finished a nearly 3 hour complete solo assembly of the Nanook and the very last step is the most time consuming, that stupid rubber trim... Especially if you're doing it in a cold garage or basement, then the tubing is stiff as a board making it impossible to wrap around the corners. Looks good though when it's finished I suggest doing it inside though or have a hair dryer handy...

yeah that rubber piece was a pain kept falling off for me also, i quickly dipped it into hot water and then quickly ran it along the sleigh and screwed it in, worked fine the corners were hard to get on though

you have 4 hoop poles. your brackets should have 3 slide holes
and 1 permanent hole. dont overtighten the bolts. im gonna try
to put snaps on the sled somehow. easier than that rubber, can take
it off in the summer easier.

There are 2 permanent holes. One on each side of the 3 slide holes. I went with the back one and just left the front permanent one unoccupied. So i have the 3 slide holes filled and the permanent one behind them, hope this is right haha.

youve got it right. i just went up to the garage and looked at mine.
it works great, the poles are a little stiff at first, open and close it
a couple times it will help.

Okay thanks, good to know haha. I was a little worried that I had it wrong and it wouldn't work right. Still gotta mess with the tent and rubber that people are having difficulty with, gotta do it outside though, not enough room inside and it's raining now so probably not today haha. Thanks again, Jeff
