Travers/Little Bow
« on: Dec 16, 2009, 11:28 PM »
Not sure how many Southern Albertans (dont think thats right... :-\ lol) on the forum, but was wondering if anyone had any info on the ice condition/depth at Travers/Little Bow right at the provincial campground.  Going to be heading out there this weekend and any heads up would be great!!  :)

That ice out from the boat launch  is always iffy , stay away from the dock pillars .

Also the water level is quite low , it would be possible to drill into rock .

The water level is always low in the fall/winter, and if youre fishing right near the boat launch, fishing by the cement pillars is sometimes the best fishing there.  Kinda looking for some ice thickness though, just wondering if driving on the ice might be possible.  I doubt it, but maybe someone out there has been there already and knows different.  Thanks

Just got back from Travers.  Fished right off the boat launch at the Little Bow Provincial Park.  Pretty good day for fishing, but not much action.  Fortunately, 2 of the 3 bites we had were 6 and 8 pound pike!!   ;D   Ice thickness actually varied from hole to hole, some places were approx 8 inches and others were 12-13 inches.  Heading back tomorrow, maybe head to a different spot though
