I still use any 2-stroke oil that is TCWIII rated (mostly Texaco and Havoline) and I run it at 48:1 That's 1 pint to 6 gallons for ALL my toys and tools. Been mixing that was since the 80's or longer.
I don't think I've ever fouled a plug except once on my old snowmobile and I'm not sure why it did. I don't even have spare plugs for my auger, chain saw, weed whacker nor outboards x 3. Same plug(s) year after year, I don't even pull them out to clean them.
Granted, I may not use the pi$$ out of them. day-in and day-out as some die-hards would but I also don't see a need to change anything that ain't broke either.
I began working on vehicles over 30 years ago and one thing I think is a waste, is changing plugs every time you turn around just because someone says to. If your plug is fouled or almost fouled,
fix the problem and stop feeding landfills with your dead plugs. If it's running right, the plug should last until the electrode wears down. Besides, the more you change them, the more chances you'll strip the threads, especially in aluminum heads. If there's points involved, I want them
perfect preferably with a timing light. Good spark = long plug life and easy starting.
And yeah, I have some Helicoils waiting for just that day, but no spare plugs....

I've never tried synthetic so I can't knock what works for others. Someday
