Fishers Choice Bait
« on: Nov 05, 2009, 12:42 PM »
Anybody use this stuff? They claim to have a shelf life of 2 years but after opening only good for 2 weeks. Not much time to use up 300 wax worms. Sent an e-mail to company for more info...will post back when they reply. It sounds like intersesting stuff

Looks good to me. I like the idea of having 300 waxies on hand, but if they are only good 2 weeks, I would never use them all. It would be nice to get a can of like 50 or 100 for $3.

i hope they come in individual packages, like a box of 300 divided up into packages of a dozen, do they sell spikes too?

last year i bought a small container of fly larvae, stored it in my fridge and forgot it for maybe 1 week or so. guest what happened after that?

my wife and i was shocked when i opened the lead, matured flies rushing out of the container, invading our home, yuck!!!
scary but funny on one point.

guy e-mailed me back saying that some guys divide them up and use a seal-a-meal to preserve them for a little while longer (did'nt say how long)...don't think I'll be dropping a 10-spot on 'em though unless I get some more positive feedback

I picked up some of the wax worms. The guy at Cabela's said he kept his for well over a month by just keeping them in the fridge and only taking a puck of what you'll use with you. I'm curious as well.

no, but a bunch of my friends who can get out more often than me do, and by the end of the season they were about 3/4 through the box, and the rest were still fresh and lively.
i am wondering, though, if the spikes come in multiple colors, my friend doesn't use spikes, so i don't know.
