Auger: Don't need one.....thats on the reel ;)

Portable Shelter: 4 lb, 2 man unit, that folds up in your pocket.

Under Water Camera: Full color in night and day and has a mobile camera head that can travel up to one mile. Has your line attached 2 feet in front of it so you can hook the fish if you want it.

Flasher: Able to tell species, size, exact distance (plus or minus 1/8") from center of cone to mouth.

Rod: Heated hand grips so warm that at -40 you can fish bare handed.

Reel: That has a button to shoot a lazer to give you a hole in ice in 1 second thru 4 feet of ice. Ultra smooth drag that adjusts according to the fighting fish

Line: 1 lb, unbreakable, completely invisible below water and is florescent orange when out of water. Ahhh heck it might as well be heated to.....so it will even keep your hole from freezing

Did I dream to big  ;D

Auger:  Probably would go with a Strikemaster 4 stroke for weight, 8"

Portable Shelter:  I already have a Clam Yukon that I picked up last year.  I would stick with it.

Under Water Camera: Marcum VS 825c

Flasher: I already have a FL20 and FL8se.  I might pick up a LX5 just to see what all of the talk is about.

Rod:  I would pick up a couple of Thorne Bros. custom built rods.

Reel:  I haven't used my Tica Cetus GV500's yet, but if they perform like I think they are going to, I would pick up some SS's

Line:  Tough one.  I've only used Stren Ice Hi Viz Gold and am happy with it.

Additional gear:

I would definitely pick up some transportation.  Probably a quad.  I have no clue as to make/model, as I have never even looked at them.  If money is no object, I would buy a cabin someplace north, probably in the LP of Michigan where they have a longer ice season than here in Indiana.  Houghton lake comes to mind!!  I might replace my shelter with a SnoBear, but only if I picked up the cabin listed above.

-Jeff

Auger: My 8" Finbore. Can't say I would mind an icegator.

Shelter: My 4 man ice cube

Camera: I'm sorry guys they're foolish. They keep me FROM catching fish. Cool to play with though.

Flasher: If I could replace "old faithful" with the same model, I would. Marcum lx-1.

Rod: My ht ice blues. For some reason I ONLY break expensive rods. The cheap ones have a way of avoiding kids and car doors. Custom built if I can get 30 at a time.

Reel: Quantum Energy. I own one for open water that is amazing. At there price it'll be 10 years before every rod I own has one.

Line: I use flourocarbon on all my ice gear.

The angle of the dangle is directly proportionate to the heat of the beat.

You should also get some X-ray Binoculars.  That way you could see where the fish were before you drill.

Also, your portable shack that fits in your pocket should be adjustable in case you have more people along.

Add a bucket that automatically cleans the fish, and your all set.

It looks like everyone has there own opinion on the "ultimate" setup.

I have the following:

Auger : Jiffy Lighting
Shelter:  Clam Voyager
Camera: Sony Cyber Shot for stills,  Aqua Vu for underwater viewing.
Flasher:  Vexilar FL20
Rods :   I just bought a Jason Mitchel spring bobber rod, and a Gander Mountain Tournament series rod.
Reel :  Shimano Stadic 2500 (have one, saving for another)
line :  Crystal Fireline (ICE) 4 lbs test.   Berkley Transition florocarbon for leaders.

All I need to add is on ice transportation, which I haven't researched yet.   It will be a few years before I can afford anything.

As long as we're dreaming,  I'd like to borrow one of Hef's bunnies for a fishing partner.
Just hope she knows how to clean fish.

I made the mistake of telling my wife I thought I had everything I really needed for ice fishing......... well I'm wrong, I don't want to commit to saying what my ultimate fishing set up would be.

I just want to keep upgrading as better stuff comes along.

But I love the idea of the heated grip on the jigging rod
