I haven't in years now. We used to get some dandy crappies on Cranberry by the bogs. I know people that fish what they call pine lake north of Paradise shores and quite a few people fish by Sportsmans park for crappies and walleyes. The guys i talk to fish for walleyes and mostly hear them complaining about the muskies that they hook all of the time. You might want to call Lake Holcombe sports shop, they keep up on whats hitting pretty well. There is just too many lakes to fish and not enough time. Thats my excuse for not getting back to Holcombe fishing.

I know that lake upside down. Yes cranberry is only a few miles away from my cottage on Lake Holcombe. And yes the walleyes are quite nice there. But I havent caught any dandy walleyes since new years eve.

fishing kinda slowed down with this cold snap, crappies were biting good prior. Fished cranberry for a couple hours last Friday, caught a few bluegills and small crappies, too cold and windy and I didn't move around much

Going up the 20th of Feb with a bunch of people for a private contest.  I've only fished this lake by the wayside.  I do have a lake map, just wondering what depth I should look for and what to go after, Crappie? Gills? Walleye??

Talked to my cousin this morning and he, another cousin and uncle were part of a small group that fished on the north end of the lake off of the Lion's camp landing.  They did ok-maybe 30-35 nice crappie between the 5 of them- but it sounded as if the bite had been a little better earlier in the week.  Minnows overruled grubs and they were in about 25 feet of water.  Have fished this area a few times myself, but that was several years ago, and it always has seemed to be a "should have been here yesterday" type of deal.

P.S.  kurt kodl, the next time I go to Arbutus maybe I will, look you up.  Was there last Saturday and the bite was sssssllllllooooowwwwww! ;D
It has nothing to do with the length of your rod, it's all about how you wiggle your worm!

Ya.  I talked to few people that fished Holcombe wednesday (feb 11th) and had good luck, caught 2 - 13 1/2 inch crappies.

I go up there to fish 1 week a year in the summer. Last year I got two 26 inch walleyes and some smaller ones.
