"Tuff Lite " handles , Strikemaster 2000
« on: Mar 05, 2009, 07:14 AM »
My friend slipped on the ice and fell with his Strikemaster 2000.
The plastic handle broke where it mounts to the frame, on the throttle side.
His head did hit the ice, but no damage.

Has this been a problem for anyone else? That is, the handles breaking?
It seems that it is a cheap set up to me. My Lazer Mag has steel handles, and has been used
for 6 years, I can't see these rugged handles ever breaking.

Where is the cheapest place to buy replacement handles?
I found them on several sites for $37.50. Maybe that's the going rate?

Thanks for any replies..

Call strikemaster and ask how much for a new one, they may be able to save ya a few bucks.

Only know of one other handle being broke and I believe his fell out of his truck.

May your tip-up spool while your flag raises with hopes of landing the big one.

Mine broke this year.  it broke right where it conects to the frame on the throttle side too.  it still worked, but was a pain in the rear to use.  i just went to the strikemaster shop (in big lake, mn) and told them, and they actually installed a new one for me for free.  They said it was very rare for these to brake.  i then boiught a part that they sell that is designed to work with their wall hook.  it is a peice of plastic that goes from handle to handle (around the gas tank).  it seems to add some stability and i think the chances of it braking again with this brace are pretty slim.

but.... talk to strikmaster and they will likely help you out.  even if you have to buy the part, they probably aren't too expensive, are they?
