Lake Naomi?
« on: Feb 09, 2009, 02:39 PM »
Hello All,

I posted this under the private lake report thread but thought I'd post it here as well so that it was not overlooked...

I saw quite a few posts on Lake Naomi on the private lake report thread, so I thought I'd ask a few rookie questions.  My boss has a place on lake Naomi and he wants me to take him and his ten-year-old son out ice fishing next weekend (2/21).  He likes to fish but has never ice fished before, so I want to make this a good experience for him and his son.  Can anyone give me any advice on how to fish this lake?

I have never been to this lake, so I know absolutely nothing about it, nor have I been able to locate any good topo maps on it.  He says he is located on the "smaller lake".  I assume there are perch, bass, gills and picks in this lake.  I think he said that the lake was stream fed - if so, should I focus on the creek channel or on the flats?  General locations, baits, etc would be very helpful.  Lastly, is there a bait shop in the area that I can go to for minnows or should I get them closer to home (Bucks County).

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

My cousin used to have a two properties on the lake years ago but is out in Idaho now. My father & I fished the lake quite a bit & always had good luck with big perch & some monster bass out in the middle of the lake by the small island. The island is almost straight out on the lake from the clubhouse. There is a beach on the opposite side from the clubhouse & when the ice was about 16 inches we used to drive my truck right out to the island. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply gill.  I think the lake you are referring to is Lake Naomi, but the one we will be fishing is actually called Tall Timber Lake - same development, but much smaller lake.  Sorry, I should have been more clear when I posted the question originally.

Anyone have any experience with this lake that you can share?

Thanks in advance...

I never even thought of fishing Tall Timber Lake when i will be there next week.  Is it worth it in comparison to Naomi???

Not sure how this compares to Naomi because I have never been on either lake.  My boss's place sits right on Tall Timber, so it seems to make little sense to drive over to Naomi when we can just walk out his back door and fish...  that is unless the fishing in Naomi is much better than Tall Timber.  We're going to have three kids on the ice that are 10 and under, so easy is going to be better.

If you do go out next week Crappyice, please let me know how you do.  ANY info at all would help.

Thanks again!

I tried to fish Lake Naomi yesterday afternoon but struggled to cut holes.  The ice was super slick left my shoe spikes home and extremely hard (No kidding,,it's ICE!).  I ended up pirating some old holes left from the previous day but they were not where I wnated to be. Needless to say, nothing happening.

We're staying over in Timber trails, right off the lake, so I decided to put some flags out this morning.  The ice was "softer" due to the snow and warmer temps. I hit a bass in about 8' of water on a fathead. Still looking for some nice yellows with one day left???
