High Savery update!
« on: Feb 10, 2009, 07:01 PM »
Looking to make a trip to High Savery this weekend to try and catch a Tiger trout. Was wondering if anybody has made a trip out there this season? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

p.s. I have just joined this forum and can't wait to get to know you all. I have been on other forums before and they are a GREAT resource for all, if everyone is honest and willing to share!

Thanks and hope to get to know you all soon.

Erik

Welcome erik. I think you will have a hard time making it into High Savery this time of year. If you come in from the east, via Saratoga, county maintenance ends about 12 miles outside of Saratoga. That leaves another 23 miles of drifted roads. Coming from Rawlins down 71, I am not sure were the state maintenance ends, but I think at the end of the pavement is about 7 miles from Rawlins leaving another 28 miles of drifted road. Anyway, you might want to check with Hack's in Saratoga or Buy Rite in Rawlins for better information. Good luck!

From the Rawlins side they stop plowing at the bottom of Millwood hill.  From here you would have to snow machine in 10 miles it's unpassable with at truck.  If you go I would be very interested in how the fishing was.  keep us updated  Thanks John

Wow!! Thanks for the replies fellas!!! You saved me a trip to Rawlins for nothing! I called Bi-Rite in Rawlins the other day and they said the fishing was good and the lady said you can get there in a truck. I didn't feel very confident in the information. You saved me and gave me another reason to break down and get a new sled soon.  ;)
Johnnyb69003 have you tried Lost Soldier this year?

No, I've spent all my time fishing Ocean Lake this year. We have caught some nice fish this year.  This was my first trip to ocean.  Where did the nice blue come from?

this was one of the big ones in the middle

The bluegill is from Nebraska. My wife and I have spent the last month every weekend fishing Nebraska and one trip to South Dakota. Here is one video from a trip to Nebraska a couple weekends ago. There are four other videos from Nebraska and one from South Dakota on our youtube page as well that you might enjoy as well.

I think with my High Savery plan blown out of the water we are probably head back down to Neb. this weekend as well.

When is your next trip to Ocean Lake? Do you think the perch fishing is going to get really good up there soon or has it been good? Nice pictures!!

You teachers must get all kinds of time off to fish.  Nice to see you on here Erik.  I've learned a ton reading these pages.

Great videos!!! The one about cleaning a perch was awsome!
Me and the wife and baby are planing on heading up monday the 16th for the week.   Hope with the warm weather last week the ice has recovered some from this cold snap.  How far is the drive to Nebraska to fish?  Do you snowmobile in to those lakes?  Sure looks like fun!
