Does anyone own one? i just bought one thought it would be worth the try. Small and portable might be worth its weight.

I have one and love it. I've had it for 4-5 years and it still works great. To read through the ice, it has to be clear, black, ice with no bumps. Most of the time I drill a hole and check the depth. Keeps you from guessing your depth in stained color and deeper water.

GOOD LUCK,
CHRIS

I've had mine for 5 years I think. No problems at all. Very good unit. It can be tricky to get a reading through the ice. You need water to couple the transducer to the ice so its great when there is water on the ice. I mainly use mine for sounding holes and looking for structure.

I call it the flashlight tester. It is fast and reads through ice with just a small layer of water on top. Saves alot of time and gets you right on drop offs etc.

i have one.......its great when scouting out areas.......you do not need to have a trap to sound.......if its not the depth you are looking for leave that hole alone and move on......plus when your traps are hitting hard you can mark that depth and try to set other traps in similar water
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

great piece of ice equipment.  I use my vex sometimes to mark depth as well, but always have the "blue flashlight" on hand as a backup.
