Bald Eagles over Onondaga Lake
« on: Jan 29, 2009, 05:44 PM »
The last two weeks on my commute home from work me and my buddy have been seeing bald eagles from onondaga lake to montezuma.  Just found this article with some pics since I haven't taken any.  Anyone else see these guys????  Pretty amazing to me.   Always wanted to see one but we have been seeing 2 to 4 at a time.  Hope you all enjoy.

Cool story with a nice slide show.

I've been seeing a few on Chautauqua Lake as well.  I was lucky enough to see one while boating this summer. It circled over us then came down and grab a big fish out of the water only a few yards away.

Their are a couple on Conesus also.  I watched one try to get some ducks while I was duck hunting on Conesus 2 years ago.

Hey Ed, didn't we see one in my canoe at Little York or was that an osprey or whatever?

A buddy and I came across a family of Golden Eagles (what appear to be two adults and two juveniles) that took up residence this summer near two adjacent lakes we fish. They are really majestic creatures. Problem is we spend more time watching them then fishing.....lol In fact one day we saw one swoop down and grab a fish, my buddy tried to chase it as it flew away to get close enough for a picture, for reference Golden Eagle (with a head start) faster then 40hp Evinrude....lol
