fish finder batteries
« on: Feb 23, 2009, 09:00 PM »
I have been thinking of puting alligator clips on my fishfinder and using a lawnmower battery instead of the one made for it. Has anyone tried this? I was thinking this might last longer and be one less battery to buy, plus it would give me a reason to keep mower battery charged in the winter. 8)

The only bad thing about lawnmower batteries is they are not a sealed battery so spills are possible and they are not made for what you are using it for so the life of the battery might not be as long. I did just what you are talking about with mine, I bought a 12 volt Zeus battery from Bass Pro with a charger for $28. Works great and I run a set of LED shanty lights off of it and have never run out of battery.
I'D RATHER BE HATED FOR WHO I AM,
THAN LOVED FOR WHO I'M NOT.
