sides, rear are 3/4 pine boards

bottom  is made of 3/8 plywood curled up around the wood at the front
nailed and glued

..rip the plywood 1/2 thru every inch or so so that it will bend

i made some comparments side to side using pine boards on the inside..also a built in seat

you can glass the bottom if you want

i put 1 inch wooden rails on bottom...and covered them on the bottom  with a thin carpet strip like of metal on each one..to keep from wearing out

this sled pulls easier than my fishtrap

frame is copper tubing

tent is canvas like from surplus store.......i found some drop cloths at harbor frieght that are simmilar weight you could use them for canvas

my wife sewed the canvas..we stretched it over the frame and marked with chalk..made some loops fro the pipes to go thru

bolts thru the copper pipe...rubber washers between rows of pipes

tie wraps hold on the bottom of canvas

cut a pole with v notch each end to strecth the canvas tight on top inside between top pipes

Laugh at the barbie tackle box if you wish  but on the news awhile back there was a guy that caught a record fish on a barbie fishing pole

all 2 feet of it to reel in a new state record channel catfish that measured 2 inches longer than the fishing pole.

Hayes landed the record-breaking fish, which weighed 21 pounds, 1 ounce, on Aug. 5 from a private pond in Wilkes County while fishing with his granddaughter Alyssa, 3.

Yeah, and after he got his granddaughter to quit crying because he had snatched the pole out of her hands to land that biggie himself...they got the picture.

actually,he was holding the pole for her, while she went in to use the bathroom. she told him not to break her rod when she came back!

Trying to keep holes open overnight. Has anyone heard about putting a 12 volt light bulb in an openended
pickle bucket with an insulated lid? Do they make something that goes into the hole and prevents freezing
other than anti-freeze.

Try using a piece of styrofoam cut to fit tight in the hole or even a piece of cardboard will keep it from freezing you might have slush depending on how cold it gets.

Just ordered the shantypods.com
plans I ordered the small one
has anyone put these together
the plans look great and could be
the ticket for me. Want to set one up for the season and always wanted a hard
side. Ill still use my flip up for trips to various places
but like the Idea of showing up with my rods and an auger
and fishing. I will not leave anything in the shack except maybe a heater

Does anyone have a picture of a shantypods.com shack or any
feed back on them. Do they warp and are hard to put up every year
What do they use for siding on the outside
how much do they weigh.
will they stand the wind

can I pull one of the small ones onto the ice or pull the panels
or will I need a 4 wheeler or snowmobile.

If I could get the parts in place by hand with one or two trips
that would be fine with me. I dont want to drive out and dont
have a 4 wheeler

I think ShantyPODS is pretty new on the scene but looks like a winner.  You may be one of the pioneers for this one.  I'll be interested in how it goes for you, keep us posted on the construction and use this season.

plans showed up
nice cd on assembly
full sized three pages of plans

we are going to get a close look this
week and start on the next week

You use a floor, panels for the side walls (posts fit into a slot in the floor)
then a box roof that lays on top. The sides attach with lag bolts on the ice

I just want to make sure the roof will stay on in a wind
may need to add tie down straps to hold it in place
they said bungee cords would also work

The plans look realy good

My plans for an 8'x8' hut with a 6'-8' roof that folds down to 4x8'x7.5'' sections for easy storage and transport.

-All plans are in a PDF format
-All angles to cut on the wood are 14deg
-Uses 36-2x4x8' 10- 4x8'x1/4'' OSB/Plywood  2- 4x8'x7/16'' OSB/Plywood 12- Hinges  28- 4'' cariage bolts  24- 4'1/2'' cariage bolts and x amount of screws
-The package includes DETAILED dimensions of the pieces and dimensions of the peices in the assembly
-Also I'm including an excel spreadsheet that has all of the parts needed, and how to cut the parts as to make most efficient use of the wood
-Total cost of parts is roughly about $150 here in Canada.
