My opinion after using an Ice Runner Expedition this year.
First this is my first shelter of any kind as I just started ice fishing.
The step through rear door has provided no complaints. If we are wearing cleats I put down a rubber mat just incase of a possible puncture. I have no idea what it would take to puncture it from a cleat.
I put the hyflex on the bottom of the sled. No issues there. The large tub area seems to glide good as you're dispersing the weight over a larger area.
The included cover is very good and it is nice to be able to easily access items without taking it off. It keeps snow out of the sled when pulling it behind a wheeler.
I'd say you could get 4 people in there relatively easily. I've only had 3 so far.
Insulation has been very good.
Windows are very nice, it would be nice if there was one on the back side so you didn't have to open the door.
During assembly I had one issue but they were able to give me advice on how to solve it which I did (it was kinda a duhh, why didn't I think of that answer) and this was on a Sunday.
I have been playing around with coolers for hauling some stuff. They come in different sizes and are cheap at some garage sales.
I can lift it myself empty. If it has stuff in it I generally can lift one end up and set it on the tailgate then grab the backend and slide it in the rest of the way.
I like being able to stand up in it. Granted I'm not that tall.
When packing up to move and put the cover on I'm careful about tucking everything in.
After listening to a general ice video about Flipovers vs Hubstyles I would think this may be a hybrid. Not having used any other type I wouldn't call this a full on run and gun setup. The wind hasn't moved the shelter like the hubs that I have witnessed going across the ice.
Currently for seating I use an old style aluminium chair. Very lightweight but takes up more space than a traditional folding chair.
As stated earlier this is my first shelter and haven't used anyone else's outside of a hub one time and I didn't like the triangle doors.
I like their concept of the Escape (single person) and the is no bars to collapse. I have not looked at one in person.
