The ones we caught were smaller but boy there was some people a couple hundred yards west of us and they had one on the ice that was pushing 5lbs! It was a big one.

Thanks for sharing.  I caught 2 ling on the south side yesterday.  1 was a decent size, but what shocked me was that they were caught in only 13 FOW.

That was you guys I think that I was talkin about billk. We were in the blue clam shack. Yea that's weird kinda. I remember fishing at camewait a couple years ago and I had my wife and daughter out therr and I set up one ling rod for the hell of it. Well I ended up catching one so I set up another rod and by the time we left we had 4 or 5 ling. If I remember right I think it was only 10 to 12ft.deep!I used to think them ling only hung out deep until that day.

I remember the blue clam, but I only talked to an older gentlemen with no shack.  I have a red Eskimo 949.  I gave him one of my ling.  I went today on the south side and only caught one ling.  I had one trout hooked up, but missed it.  I was still in 14 FOW.  The ice was 12 inches thick today.  Marked a lot of fish, but they weren't eating what I was providing.  I'll be back out Thurs morning to try again.

Headed down one of the next few nights.  Any advice on where to try?  Relatively new to ice fishing, never fished clark canyon, and never caught a ling.

I'm in the same boat (pardon the pun) Ed.  Let us know how you do and good luck.

Thanks Ned.  Heading down tonight.  Any suggestions on bait?  Had some sucker frozen but it turned to mush and don't have time to catch more.  Going to try some Gulp bait and nightcrawlers but wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.  Shrimp?

A good place to catch both trout and ling during the day is in front of the cuts (bluffs or what ever you want to call them) on the east side.  In front of the two cuts farthest south in 12-15 feet of water are particularly good.
