Any Advice on fishing this lake - map included
« on: Dec 22, 2008, 09:35 AM »
http://www.dnr.state.mi.us/SPATIALDATALIBRARY/PDF_MAPS/INLAND_LAKE_MAPS/OAKLAND/STRINGY_LAKES.PDF

This is a chain of lakes in Oakland County.  It offers a lot of different depths.

Any advice on where to make some first attempts at scouting?  The lake does not see much ice fishing traffic.

I would like to target pan fish - crappies/gills/perch

Thanks!

Mike

I can't help with the where to fish as I don't fish for panfish, but I can post a pic of the lakes so we don't have to leave The Shanty!!!  ;D

Thanks for that Drifter.  To narrow it down, I selected two places I will try.  I will target the two holes and see what my new Marcum shows.  Does the spots market A and B look logical?

The brown areas are land.

ThankS!!

Is there any structure of any kind in the lake.   If any in 10' or more I would try there first. then look to those deep holes

On Upper Cedar Lake I think I'd try those 30' flats in the narrows for both perch and suspended crappie. And then I'd work that hump that comes up to 10' in the center of the SSW side.
On Long Lake I'd try the 20' flat on the SSE end near the base of that hump that comes up to 1' and then head for the opposite end of the lake to try the 20" and 30" flats there.
On Tan Lake.... Go Deep ! On Squaw and Lower Ceder, once again that 20" to 30" water looks good to me.
Looks like a great little run of water ! Hope it turn out to be productive for you and your buddies !

Jus doan stan thar.... DO SUMPIN' !!!

Thanks a MILLION motorfisher!!

I did not notice the hump in Cedar.  That may be a sweet spot.

Again, thanks for taking the time to lend me your expertise!!

Mike
