Jigging' Rap Color Patterns
« on: Dec 11, 2016, 10:13 AM »
He, just wondering what the general consensus is regarding jiggin raps. I've had good luck with fire tiger pattern for walleye and decent enough for rainbows. I was wondering what other patterns are being use out there, especially for Browns and Rainbows. I like the versatility of the jigging raps, it's one of my go to set ups for almost any species.

Use a countdown about 2 inches long, these  in all colors work really good, just jig up and down, trout love them.

Thank you both! Looks like I'll be adding a few to the collection. Haven't tried the countdowns yet, looking forward to trying those out.

countdowns work  jig them and lots of action in the water  i like the ones that look like brown trout, also have had hits just hanging them in the water, good luck

Purpldescent has been good in open water and is new this year.  White variations have also been very good.

I had some good luck last year with the Helsinki Shad color.  It was my first year of using that color and I caught rainbow, splake and lake trout with it.

I have always used the Northland Buck Shot spoons.  Are the Rap's better? or has anyone had better luck with one over the other?  Going to invest in some Raps but wondering if they will do better for trout than the Buck Shots.

What do you guys look for in a Rap rod?  Something with some backbone and a fairly stiff tip is what I usually look for.  Anyone have a favorite rod they use for Raps?
