2010 Team NH Outing - North
« on: Jun 25, 2009, 12:33 PM »
Hey guys,

After a somewhat successful Little Alaska Outing. I would like to start planning for this upcoming season's north country outing.

Many more showed up than I thought would on the 1st Lake and it would be nice to do it all again this year. So seeing we have more time to plan, lets start tossing ideas around.

The family and I went over to Cheifbush's campsite lastnight for a afternoon filled with good company and great friends. We talked about the 2010 Team NH Outing - North and he suggested maybe we hold it on Lake Umbagog this year.

The reasons for possibly holding there are:

There is over 1 mile of plowed ice road.
5 traps/person
He will have his 8x10 there and I could bring my 8x12

The only thing I think we would need to look into is lodging,

I can get the names of several motels in the area as well as local bait shops.  Umbagog has something for everyone, Pickeral, Bass, Perch, as well as some nice Brookies.  Also plenty of parking, easy access, and I will have my hardside there in case it gets cold.  I also keep my coleman stove and grill up there as well as a wood stove so there are plenty of cooking options.  I will be helping DD getting this together.  Anyway, let us know what you think.

There are a lot of nice places to stay not to far from the lake for cheap money. I would make it a 3 day weekend fishing trip.

Sorry I looked again and there is a long distance for you. But count me for Umbagog lake trip! Umbagog's has got good fishing and it would work out in February since last year did, and make sure it's not a -20 below weekend like KissMyBassNH said.

Yeah, we did ok last year.  The thing I like most is there are lots of species and plenty of flags to keep the kids busy.  We usually ended up with 7-8 each time we went, some brookies, sm bass, pickeral, perch and even a salmon.

It will not be long, our nights down here are around the mid 50's all summer long. We may have an early winter or we may just not even have a winter the way the weather is this year.

I hear ya about the temps......I frequently burn the wood stove in the morning to take the chill off.  There has not been a week this summer in which I did not see my breath in the morning at least once.
