Title: First Snow!

Post by: appleye on Oct 16, 2018, 09:46 AM: I was out hunting last evening and the snow from the weekend was 70% gone but the small ponds had a bit of ice one them. I then had to cross the Belle Fouche River (all 5', and 5" deep) and it was frozen but slushy. At this rate we will be on hard stuff by November.

Southern Colorado. But there's a bunch of wipers in Nebraska.

Nice fish slayer as I would expect, enjoy what's left of the soft water. Good ice is coming to the high country early this year

Post by: wyoutdoors on Oct 19, 2018, 09:33 AM: Years ago during the fall and winter in a power plant lake, wipers used to school up and feed heavily on the shad that came up the mouth of a water cooling inlet channel. Plant would release warm water into the lake and a shad colored rattle trap would become wore out in an afternoon! When they were busting the top a white Zara Spook was a blast too. Great fish, hard fighters. :tipup:
