Where i was on saturday there was about a foot and a half of snow/slop ontop, made very hard going with the 4 wheeler, only fished for a few hours ended up with about 300$ worth of broken gear. Never fished it before. Thats my first time i hope its not like that the next time i venture out on it.

This was on Great Sacandaga?   Saturday?  Whereabouts?   Sorry, don’t mean to barrage you with questions.  I was on the south end both Saturday and Sunday and it was easy going.

Took the day off and drove up to the lake, didn’t fish but went out and drilled some holes, almost zero snow on the lake.  Definitely wearing creepers tomorrow.  Ice was around 10” where I am ( north end)

Seemed fine to me.  Saw some spots to avoid, but drove out with the wheeler no problem.  I didn’t see anyone on the ice, really windy today.

I was out yesterday by Northampton and there was 16” of ice. The shorelines were fine. The wind was really whipping and it blew all the snow off the lake.

I've seen 44s a foot bigger than a 34 inch kid

I'm no rocket surgeon but wouldn't a 44" fish be 10 inches bigger than a 34" kid????  ;)

Ahhh got ya. The food and fuel tourney is the multi species one, correct? Where those jumbo pike come in every year...

With good cell coverage and modern technology I would really like to see the tournaments with live info available via phone and/or web. I bet hundreds of fish are killed each year that aren't even close to making the leader board and could otherwise be released.

Too hard to call the number?

Is there a number to call? That would be (good) news to me. A dedicated phone line would be great, though I could also see the difficulty of manning it over the course of a 3 day event.

I know in previous years it had been suggested not accepting pike under certain length, say 36", as the smaller fish have not made it on the board historically.

Registration form says no pike under 35”

I look at the Sport Island cam every day, there is an outdoor thermometer you can see, it's reading 60* right now, warmer than NYC. It's been a very strange year, the temps have been almost the same on many days from NYC to the Adirondacks.

Absolutely... like how bass fishing is today at the pro level.

Be cautious on the shorelines, there is still plenty of ice though. 3-4 inches of slush on top. Rode about ten miles on my wheeler on the lake yesterday

Yesterday afternoon, I took a ride down to the campsite. I was surprised the shore line didn't look that bad. There is some water at the edges but the lake came up 3 inches. There were a couple guys out from the beach and based on their tracks the walking did look bad. Not sure how it was coming off after the afternoon sun. The parking lot was pretty muddy.
Goose are you fishing....h2l

That truck is on the beach at the campsite.
