Sounds like scare tactics from locals. I was there today w almost a foot of ice. Machines all over the place. Minimal snow, on top of a crust layer that held you on foot but could be an issue on a wheeler. Ended up w two pike, a couple break offs n some micro perch. Hope it wasn’t beginners luck, as it was my first time there.

Scare tactics? I'm trying to make sure ppl are safe!  Ok. That's the last time I give anyone any info on this site.  Wish you would have walked across the current on the Broadalbin side.

Sensitive much?  Take it easy buddy.  Must have struck a nerve to wish that I fall thru.  But thanks for letting me know to watch out for current on the broadalbin side. Useful information

As of Saturday there was minimal snow on the southern end but a crust layer that might problematic for wheelers. Wheelers I saw out there weren’t moving too fast. Sure there’s more snow to deal w at this point.

Do they plan to keep raffles starting at 300 due to the contest being cancelled? Or are they moving times up.

Ghostcheff44, after 60+ years of fishing this lake (and getting older) I must have misplaced those pictures. In the meantime I will go out and get a couple more, as soon as the ice is gone, in the morning. JK...h2l

A 10lb and 13lb walleye, by the same guy In the same day, on sacandaga? Yeah, come on now. There should be a rule where claims like that can not be made here without actual photo proof. Worry guy. Calling big BS on that one. 10lb and 13lb pike, yeah 🤣

There was photo proof of it . The gentleman who passed this info saw it with own eyes and is a very reliable person for anglers. Very honest guys . The pics are out there and this really did happen .

The biggest walleye I ever caught out of GSL was a little over 6lbs and I have caught 1000's in over 60 years. I saw ONE fish that was close to 10lbs, I do know it was a little over 29 inches. That fish was laying on the ice next to the hole it came from. Maybe 7/8 years ago. He had never fished the lake before and was going to take it home and EAT it. I talked him into having it mounted and he did. When I worked in the local bait shop I saw some nice walleyes brought in. I can assure you, many were not caught in GSL and none were 10lbs. I have watched the walleyes run every Spring and have seen some nice ones but never a 10lb one. Now, the walleye run out in *********,NY is another story. Use to be able to see them right in the middle of the day in 2/3 feet of water. Not even sure if that lake is producing walleyes like it use to as I haven't fished it in years.

That is more about walleyes and Sacandaga than I have ever given up. I am sure there may be some nice ones in here and there could be more if some changes were made. I can remember when 20 to 24 inch fish were pretty common but the numbers were not like they are today.

These are facts, not something I heard from my uncle's, brother's, son's, wife's, grandmother....h2l
