I fished it on Saturday. Plenty of ice, action was a little slow until just before dark. Lots of people moving permanent shanty's into place for tournament. Good Luck

Any trucks out from Wally’s lately? Looking to head out from there and head out past Beacon. Any updates on ice and snow would be great.

Thanks

They are not doing a boat this year.

Didn't see that until now. Good to know. Ty.

Does anyone have a good place to get a truck on the ice North of the Bacherlorville bridge?  Pulling the shanty off this weekend, the wheeler should pull it, but just in case...

Time to get this thread moving again. Anyone know how the water levels are on GSL? Any signs of ice forming yet?

Water is high just like last year. A few bays froze over in that last cold slap but I think we are back to open water. Hopefully this slush will freeze over.

Between GSL and Indian, what typically freezes earlier?

Yes the lake is high. About 9/10 feet above where it should be at this time of year. It is dropping about 2" a day. A couple deer on the ice out front yesterday but I wouldn't go on it. This snow isn't going to help much. This past summer wasn't my best. Never got the "skunk" but from early August on, just couldn't find many keepers, up until then it was pretty good. Caught my biggest in 3 or 4 years, 22". Hope everyone has a good ice season and be safe....h2l

We hooked some nice eyes off the dock in the spring but i didn’t catch any all summer other then that. Tons of smallies and a few pike. I keep my boat on the lake but we don’t go out fishing too much mostly just off the dock. Lots of rock bass too.

765ft is my favorite boating lake elevation in the summer, plenty of beach and the trouble is still under water.  Right now the lake is at 765.5ft with very little frozen.  Maybe we will just go kayaking this New Years and just jig : ).

We usually catch the eyes in the 13-17 inch range but we did manage to land two 28 inchers through the ice last season (released). Seems to be a lot of little eyes with a few nice ones mixed in here and there. Hopefully the lake locks up sooner than later!

That’s because they stock it with  fish around that size

The stocking definitely seems to be increasing the population, but I’m catching more small ones than I used to..hauling wood this morning i saw the whole northville side by the pub and spillway is locked up,and the batchellerville side had a skim over it this morning also..I can’t wait.

A lot of good eater size eyes in there now. Hopefully people start releasing more of the bigger eyes and keeping the 15-18 inchers. Either way its still fun catching them. Tight Lines!

Yes, there seemed to be a lot of 14-15 inch walleyes this past summer. We had a year like that a few years ago. It got better for a few years after that. The spawn can be very hit and miss, depending on Springtime water levels. It would still be a good thing if the state could dump a couple of 5 gallon buckets of fry once in awhile....h2l

The GSLFF  stocks walleye fry every fall.

Agreed there  :roflmao: I've only have ice fished GSL a handful of times but every fish we caught was between 14.25" - 14.75" lol

There are big ones in there! A couple of years ago, at the Fuel & Food tourney in March, a fellow caught a 9 lb. walleye. Last September, I caught a 28" walleye, open water, of course.

I was just talking to a buddy of mine on the phone about a half hour ago, about slot limits..I think a slot of 15-18” would work wonders on this lake. And on another note,I just stood on five good inches of ice..tomorrow night I’ll be out.
