Had a good saturday out there. Plenty of ice where we were, and fish a plenty. Ended up with8 leeper walleyes, bout half dozen shortys, a bass, and even a rock bass. My wife brought out our four yr old, and he even managed two walleyes, one legal one short. nice day for the most part. I like days like i had saturday. ;D

Does mcmurrys camp ground let you park and walk out of their launch?

Spent Saturday and Sunday fishing..  Sat was sloooooow.  Sunday was somewhat productive,  few walleye and three pike (biggest was 30").

Shoreline from Sunset to Lanzis is awful, ice heaves all along the shore.

I haven't been there in several years, but I used to park there for the Fuel & Food tourney. No one ever said I couldn't park there. Never saw anyone from the camp ground. And several other cars were there when I left. That's all I can say about it.

First time posting this season...
Heading up to Sac for our annual ice weekend next week with the men (It's always a catch and release trip, just great to get away). We'll be staying at a camp on South Shore rd. a little north of the "I Go Inn" restaurant. Anyone get out on that side recently? Just wondering how the shore line is in that area. Thanks for any info. Good luck out there...
Have done well in years past, but not consistent. 2 years ago, 9 walleye to 3lbs (all after dark), and 2 pike to 28".  Last year 1 flag in 3 days, nice 9.50lb pike...

Was looking for a little bit of help. I'll be going to a friend's camp by the broadalbin boat launch, near pike st. Going up for a couple of days and was hoping to get some fishing in. He isn't much of a fisherman so not much help. Looking to find some pike... Any advice or a point in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks

No.  They only plow the very front of the entrance...Im sure you could walk the snowmobile trail through the campground, but i don't think they want anyone parking there.

Does mcmurrys camp ground let you park and walk out of their launch?

You could get on at Wallys in Mayfield. Plenty of parking.( Wallys is just about across the lake from mcmurrys.) Lots of good ice there. It is only about 10-15 ride from Mcmurrys.  Plus you could stop in at Wallys when you get off the ice. And if you need bait Fuel and Food is only a mile away.

The area I am interested in fishing is literally next to mcmurrys.

Unfortunately the only “legal” parking near there is the boat launch. The parking spots have dried up in that area over the years.

When I went there, they plowed right down into the camp area, near the trailers. Must have changed what they are doing.

Ya they don't do that anymore.  There is a barricade at the very beginning of the entrance.

Over the years I have seen a few, but not many. Two or three years ago there was one caught out in front of the campsite. There was a picture of it on here and I think it was about 27 inches. There had to have been some in the river and swamps from before the lake was formed...h2l
