Lake has come up ONE foot overnight. The river in front of the house has opened up and is running about 4/5 feet higher than yesterday. The lake will continue to rise. It is 21 degrees and blowing snow right now. Be careful around the edges the next day or two....h2l

I spoke to the Sheriff this morning. He did mention that the lake is dangerous but didn't say that it is CLOSED

The lake has come up just over TWO feet since Friday. The ice has broken up with open water almost down to Sport Island Pub. There is still a lot of water running past the house this morning but not as fast as yesterday. That water has to go someplace. Yesterday there were guys out off the campsite. The edges looked very wet in the am and as the water came up I am sure they got wetter. If there were some concerns about the lake I am sure the Northville end caused most of it.  Plus any area where creeks come into the lake. It is a big lake and conditions vary from one end to the other. -2 this morning and will be cold again tonight and with the inflow slowing, it will only improve.  Maybe they only CLOSED it to those that use their heads....Good Luck and Be Safe...h2l

We were out betweeen deer island and hudson River and getting out this am was no issue whatso ever. A bit different by the end of the day, with a tad bit of water on the edge, but that came through, and the ice didn't pull away from shore so no major issues. we ended up with 5 keeper eyes, a nice perch, 4 or 5 short eyes, a pike that snapped the line and 4 bass. It was a nice morning, slow and cold day that became breezy. Good day overall though. Just use your head around shores and things should be fine in a couple days.

Thanks
Vern

I have only fished Sacandaga open water, and was thinking of trying through the ice this winter.  I typically stay around the Town of Day boat launch.  Is the lot open in the winter, and is the ice safe there?  I read through the previous posts but this area doesn't seem to get much discussion.  Thanks

I have not fished up in day this year, but as a rule the farther north you go the less consistent the ice becomes.if the shorelines are decent enough to get out up there,I would be very careful around the area where sand creek meets the lake. I was out tonight towards fish house and the shorelines all had water coming through but getting on the ice wasn’t a problem.

Yes, it is open year round. As far as conditions, I don't currently know. Haven't been there yet this year, but I do use it and the ice has always been good right there, even the last two years, when the rest of the lake wasn't.

Broadalbin boat launch collected a lot of water at the bottom of the ramp making it tricky to get on and off. Ive gotta imagine the past few nights have made it a two layer extravaganza. Trucks driving onto the lake will need to be weary as they may be riding along and drop about 2 feet to the base ice. Bring extra underwear if this occurs.

Wallys....everything's solid. Fished by the traps. Lots of ice. (Not lots of fish)
