Yes I was. I didn't think I was being rude, I may just come off that way at times. Must be the on edge construction worker in me, sorry.
Gotta love the Web and text messaging. It's very easy to misjudge someone's tone of voice. How the heck did people catch fish before the Internet and phones anyways? Lol

No harm. I think people use to actually sit and talk around the bait shop before the internet.  ;D

And the tips you could pick up were much better, learned a lot just hanging out.

I still do that. If I head south to get bait for the week, I better have a couple of extra hours to talk :).

Heading up to Sac in two weeks hoping this cold snap really adds some ice.  Does anyone fish between the Edinburg Marina and Sinclair point?  Is it even safe being part of the river?  I have not seen many reports on this.

Most years it does get fished. This year there has been some spots where there hasn't been good ice. One issue is that there isn't a lot of places to get onto the ice due to lots of private homes and camps....h2l

Not the best year on Sacandaga.  Put the shanty out Valentines day weekend and brought it in two weeks later.   Never actually moved it to our preferred spot, but just stayed in the bay.  We did pretty good hitting some good sized pike, but it's like winter never really started.  We're done for the year on Sacandaga, and hoping next year will be better.  Just kinda sad, I live for Saturday afternoons hanging out in the shanty and waiting for that lunker pike.  Oh well, maybe next year.

Btw, a video of us pulling the shanty.  Not all that exciting, but wanted to share.  Beginning of the 2nd video shows the inside.

Read the GAL Lake report this morning. Claims it is safe in front on Sport Island. Mayfield Lake is also safe. 4 inches. I'm waiting for 6".

Please be safe out there. The lake report is good but use your spud or auger and check every three to five steps...i heard a guy went through today and didn't hear any other details about results. It is just heresay so i don't know circumstances but please be safe on this lake.

This is not a lake I fish on 3-4" without extreme caution.  All that a spud means is that the "spot" you hit in front of you is safe.  It doesn't mean that the spot 10 ft to your left or right is.  I have a feeling guys spud out to their spot and then start to get complacent as the day goes on. The bay I was watching froze like swiss cheese this year.  Weds morning it was froze, but with a bunch of unfrozen pockets due to the wind.  Thursday morning those pockets froze.  Friday we measured 3-4" in a straight line 100yds off shore and we walked the same line back in.  First ice this year is tough with the snow cover.  Even with a dusting, it's impossible to see the differences in what you walking on.  I like to see 5-6" then at least I have a better chance if I step on one of those late freezing spots.

That's a nice spot out there.  My father used to have a shanty over there.  Had a decent walleye bite and we got some trout really shallow like 2-4ft of water.
