The ice was clear and thin enough for me to watch this bruiser fighting under my feet, and was able to grab it under the hole without having to maneuver it's head up the ice hole. 5 lbs on the nose, my 2nd biggest bass on ice!

Thanks all, it was definitely a blast watching it under the ice, as it looked even bigger magnified. Thought I might have my first 7 pounder for a few seconds.
Lucky I was on 4 inches, don't know if I would have managed to get it's head up a deeper ice hole, it was barely hooked.

Yeah, wasn't expecting it... Mind you, I landed one significantly bigger through the same size hole last year.
