Looking to get this started again. I know their is a Northern and Southern Get together but this one worked out pretty well last year. Looking for suggestions on dates, lakes, etc.

Last years get together was alot of fun, and was good to meet other members. This year maybe the get together should be a little later, as the ice was somewhat sketchy. As far as a lake, we could do Praire again, or Rice Lake, or maybe even Lake Menomin, or other suggested spots.

Yeah I was thinking a little later in the year this year last year was a little sketchy towards the end haha.

I would like to come out this year if I can swing it. Last year I actually drove over to veterans park and peeked out at you guy's fishing on Prairie Lake, but the ice was definately looking bad and if I remember right, it was actually raining a bit. Sorry I didn't come out and drop a line with you guy's, but I am ice paranoid. If the get together is in the area again I will come out.

Don't blame you a bit, it was raining, and the ice was pretty sketchy at the end. Hopefullynit will wprk for you to make it out this year.

I vote for Menomin on a Sunday. I fished it all last year and the crappies were huge. Easy access to the lase for driving on later in the season or not a bad walk early season with good fishing. January 12? Should be able to drive on then and the mid winter lull shouldn't have hit yet.

im a little far, but you can count me in. as long as i dont have to work.

always wanted to fish that area, would be fun to fish with some guys that know the area a little better.

I usually tend to go north or west...but if everyone wants to meet up...sounds like a good time.

I work every other weekend, and January 12th is a work day for me. However, if that date works for everyone else, do not change the date on my account. Quite a few of the attendees from last year may not have checked in lately to see this thread. Let's keep the ideas, and planning going.

We might have very early ice up north here. I know a couple good crappie lakes just off of hyw. 53 near Spooner.

It's hard to say its up to everyone else. The beginning of January would work well and should be able to drive on the ice by then most years anyways. Saturdays work best for me or every other sunday I would have to look at my work schedule and see. I'm pretty open on fishing about any lake but I'm really more of a panfish guy so going after the crappies sounds good to me and I've always wanted to get on Lake Menomin.

Menomin can be a tough bite later in the year. Spooner is close, Erik are those lakes small enough that a person can walk to good spots, I also have a snowmobile and could shuttle people and their sleds. I'm sure others have wheelers and sleds as well. It is nice to be able to drive out but not a have to if the bite is better earlier in Mid December.

The spots I go early ice I walk maybe 1/4 mile a smitty sled makes it easy, by Christmas I think a snowmobile should be safe. Its hard to put a date on it, just depends on how cold it gets and ice thickness. I'll take a snowmobile on 4" to 6" of hard ice after I test drill it out to where I want to go.. Calling for lows in the lower teens again by the end of this week Thur. Fri. and single digit low Sat. Deer opener.

I see the Chip Flowage was mention on the other thread, great fishery with a lot of Crappies, Gills, and eyes. Bit of a drive from EC but we can Truck pool and share gas.

I guess first we need to set a date. I'm free about every Saturday through January and every other Sunday. I'm open for early ice or we can wait tell January or so do it. Last year was a little sketchy when we did it but this year I don't think it's going to be the same with the weather were having.

Whenever it is I'll be in this year. I'll work around whatever date is picked. Have my wheeler for shuttling as well.

Any weekend in January should work for me. We should try to plan it with half way decent weather if possible. Last year my GF and I spent 3 days near Chetek and it barely got above 0 with 20 mph winds, not good planning on our part. We had a cabin reserved so there was no changing it.

Isn't the 7th and 14th on a Tuesday? What lake is the get together going to be on.

Okay how about Saturday January 11th or the 18th. I guess the lake depends on what we're going to target for fish. I think crappies sound like a good idea.

I will be fishing Holcombe from the 22nd to the 24th of January with my GF, we will be staying at Paridise Shores. I'm good for either of those Saturdays and Crappies or any other fish is fine with me.

Well who is all interested? And how about Rice Lake? I've heard pretty good things about the fishery. Anyone fish here or know they lake a decent amount?
