Gaudetskie, I'm surprised that you don't have any safe ice on the bays of Wissota.  We got plenty up here in Chetek.

Probably do. My early season spot has always been a spot off the Chippewa River. 3 solid inches today. Only took me 3hr to catch my limit of bluegills.

Walked out onto Tainter Lake today. Maybe 2.5" of ice. I plan on going out tomorrow (with a rope tied to the dock!) Not planning on much because I only have crawlers to fish with.

there is a decent chance i could be moving to W.I. And was wondering how the fishing is around the madison area, I see there are a dozen or so small ponds in the area, as to what one might catch in them???? perch, crappie?? How is the fishing around the state, on the big lake? Interested to see what you guys have out there.

Headed out tomorrow.  One of the lakes near by had Ice Boats on it today.  Not one that I usually fish because it's a late afternoon bite.  Right about cocktail time.  I'm gonna be on it anyway, but will be home for cocktails.  Gotta set your priorities...
Shut up and fish.

Was out on Pigeon lake in Bayfield county Saturday. Non stop action all day. The ice was 1.5" - 2.5" with some bad spots wherever there was a lot of snow cover.

There is a very big chain of lakes in downtown Madison that I hear are quite popular, especially Monona Bay which I think is on Lake Monona, but I'm not sure...  Either way you will have plenty of water to fish.

And my weekend report-  Saturday I fished a bay on the Chetek Chain and I caught nothing, and the people fishing near me only got 1 bluegill.  On Sunday I tried a channel area connecting 2 lakes with about 10 other people in the area.  I saw 2 pike get caught and about 7 more flags, but they missed those because the people were sitting in the bar that was right next to the lake.  I'm for one glad that we are getting this rain because a lot of the ice here is every shade of grey and not black.  It will kill that layer and replace it with the good black ice.

Yahhh! It's December boys, and that finally means it's ice fishin time. With a high under 20 degrees for the forseeable future, we will have good ice in less that 2 weeks. Tight lines boys!!   ;)
