Title: Setting tip ups in current
Post by: browning13 on Feb 03, 2010, 06:41 PM
I'm going to try fishing tip ups on a section of a river later this week and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this. The current isn't terrible by any means but enough to pull the bait. I was thinking about running a heavier weight and rigging the sucker up from the lip with a stinger in the dorsal so its pointed into the current. Any suggestions?

I would lip hook the bait no doubt

I would rig it as you normally do.

If the bait is lively, it will swim into the current.

Put a couple of small split shot near the minnow to keep it down.
Otherwise, the current may move it higher in the water column.

Hope this helps,
