The results are in and do`nt look so good.
Got to South Sandstone and drilled the first hole and the water was very muddy.Visibility was about 8 inches but We continued to drill and set out the tipups.
Just maby a pike or a perch would come through and find them smelts attractive enough. We were hoping to set up the darkhouse for a little jigging, spearing action
After about three hours and nada bite We decided to move over to baker Lake, about 15 miles to the East.
This lake was a bit more clear and after drilling the first hole We noticed the water had an odor to it.We drilled and set out the tipups and nothing was biting.
Jims friend owns a restaurant near the pond so He goes over to talk to His friend,Upon returning He exclaims"Well I got some bad news and some good news. For the bad news,The lake froze out early in the winter and killed all the perch.{that might explain the odor of the water}.For the good news,The big Northerns survived. For the bad news.It is like a smorgasboard down there for the Pike."
Ohh Well.It was a very good outing and the weather was real nice.
If anyone is thinking about fishing these two ponds this season. You might want to try something else.LOL
We will be trying Castle Rock this Friday if the ice holds out.
