what bait should i use for fishing in weedy areas for pike/pickeral, i usually use 3 1/2 - 4 inch shiners

those will work great especially for pickerel and small pike . If you you want to get into some bigger pike use some bigger shiners or some nice sucker minnows  ;)

My biat of choice would be dead smelt just above the weeds in the shallows

I use my bait shops "large" shiners for pike also. I have caught anything from 8" perch to 36" pike on these.

Yep mine too.I also have caught good pike on small perch.Cut the head off, slit the belly open and throw er on a small treble.

Suckers from a feeder creek.  Catch em with a cast net.
