A buddy of mine fished over new years - found some about half way to the boat ramp from the spill way, but no size to them

A couple friends were over there a few days ago, they caught quite a few small crappie...9'' they said. Actually got some nice gills around 8", not bad for Beeds these days. Mostly down lake areas I believe, seems the upper end silted in fairly good, not quite as deep as it used to be. Hope this helps, good luck.

i was on Beeds sunday, 5 inches out in front of the dam. Caught about 25 or so gills. Ranged from mostly small, to 6 or 8 keepers. Couple small crappies.
Was also on the little interstate lake. A few lookers, no takers. It also had 5 inches of ice.

My FIL is friends with him, and they told him he was nuts for putting it out there.

He says it will be awhile before he puts his permy out for the season

Last time I fished that pit I apparently didnt speak the native language.  Seen non legal immigrants keeping everything they caught.  Can you get a fishing license if your a "undocumented worker"?
Left a bad taste in my mouth and havent been back since.

Drove past yesterday just before dark and saw a few shacks out there. Anything worth mentioning? I thought about stopping but had to get back to Ames.

Fished beeds this afternoon and did alright.  4 to 6 inches of ice but still some open water on the lake.  Just be very careful along the shoreline as that is where the open water seems to be.

I was at Beeds from 2:30-6 on Sunday and did fairly well close to the jetty. I wasn't very impressed with the idiot punting fish on the lake. Not very classy

Nor was the drilling holes within ten feet of our huts when they had the whole lake to fish.  A real LACK of respect for other fisherman.

Well it sure wasn't very good fishing there today... At least not for me. Was out there for about 3 hours and all I came up with was one little gill! Moved around some but just didn't mark that many on the vex.

3 hours of fishing on the lake today.  Only had 6 fish worth keeping and the bite was real slow.
