Welcome to a sport that is enjoyed by so many. It sure beats sitting indoors all winter and the fish are a bonus. If I may offer some advice, I would take along a few waxies or spikes with me when I go, for those days when the gills are tight lipped. Yes, plastics work most of the time, but once in a while you can save a trip by offering natural bait. I find a small pill bottle full of them is easily carried and could make the difference on slow days. And, I would go as light as possible, when you can, being able to move easily makes it more fun, and I seem to catch more when I move around. The great thing about ice fishing is that you can tailor it to "your" liking. It sounds like your well on your way to becoming an avid winter angler, enjoy!
