I had one sneaking to try to take a bite out of me while I was wade fishing in the St. Croix. They say, there are no alligator gars in there. Yeah, they aren't suppose to be in there but staring at one a few feet with it's head staring at me...well let's just say I won't be wading in the St. Croix no more unless I'm only on super shallow water.

There's long nose and short nose gar, and then there's Alligator gar. Don't get 'em mixed up, Slip
-
Now that’s an eating machine. Wonder how many pounds of fish it eats per day?

Yep, it's neither short nor long nose gar. Much too big and it isn't supposed to be there, where there's typical short and long nose gar territory.

WOW!! THAT'S HUGE.

He’s gonna need a bigger rod for next time :o !!!
Exceptional fish for sure.

Awesome catch

Either you mistook a paddlefish for an alligator gar, or an alligator gar successfully locked through every dam on the upper Mississippi. Gonna apply Occam's razor on this one even though I'd really like it to be true.

The fish in the pic is 100% alligator gar.i didnt get into details where it was caught or if it should be there.i remember when i lived in Oklahoma they would catch alligator gar and longnose gar and just throw them on the bank to die.lines of dead gar and snagging them was legal.

We need global cooling in order that we may ice fish for them. ;D

Three feet away from me. Easily about five feet long or more. A snout that is easily about 8 inches wide. Just your typical bull shark getting lost up river.

A new record stingray over 600 lbs. was caught.
