I purchased the above in hopes of using it one day. Put Swedish made blades on my 6" and have an8" in the shadows that MAY need sharpening down the road. Who here has experience with this blade sharpener that is made in the U.S.of A???
Kim ???

I've used it carefully & had good results.

Thank you for the reply. I have used my 6" for 5 years and still cuts good. Just don't want to drop big bucks on new blades or have someone sharpen old ones when I can use the Strike
Master sharpener.

I can't view which blade sharpener you bought but I have had mixed luck sharpening the laser curved blades by hand with a couple different tools. The key seems to be getting both blades evenly matched and that is where I failed the first few times. I have had excellent luck sending the dull blades to Fish307 and they come back as good as new even when one blade had hit a rock that was buried in the ice and had a bad gouge in it. I was at a local hot spot pond a few years back and some guy was fishing with his kids and they were tossing rocks from the shore out on the ice. Once it snows and some melting happens those rocks end up encased in the ice for the rest of the season and become a real hazard to our drills.

I have never had good luck with the sharpeners that are basically carbides that scrape across the edge. I have used paper wheels, fine wet sandpaper, or a Worksharp belt sharpener to sharpen all types of auger blades. The key is to never bevel the ice side of the blade. If there is a ding, you can carefully stone that out, but then sharpen only the off- ice side, and leave the burr. It goes away with the first hole. Have not bought blades or paid for sharpening the last dozen years, and have sharpened Mora, Lazer, and Nils type blades.

No such sharpener.

Can you clarify "no such sharpener" ? Blue handle that has oblong hole to fit hand it to sharpen blade. Picture of auger blades with a hand holding sharpener. Made in USA bottom right. Possible number is CS-1. No other " model " number I can find.

I have both ...never tried them ..these are for that emergency when your spare blades are not handy . A spare set of blades is the best action plan.

I had the SM Lazer one in the bottom link and tossed it in the trash after I destroyed my blades and needed to send them up to Fish307.

Piscesman I have one of the sharpeners good for a quick touch up of blades. If you have a damaged blade or just want a better quality sharpening job have it done professionally or search for another type of sharpener.

Do trade a blade or send them in. You have to be very good at sharpening and careful or you’ll ruin your blades.

I have that one and on the back it says this is a temporary edge to get you through the day, not a permanent solution.

I had the blue one and thought it made the blades duller..
