Do these pre-rigged creature type baits have much action when jigged vertically? I'm going to try jigging up some pike and I see they make an 8" Medusa and a 4" Bulldawg, thought they might be something to try. How about tubes, anyone ever do any good on Red Octobers or other such baits? Any other big plastics or baits in general I should look into?

I use Giant Tora Gitzits and they work well.
Caught a bunch on the 8" but have yet to try the 10" ones I bought last year.
Working on getting some titanium leadered trailer hooks made up for them.

Bondy Baits and Musky Innovations Rippin' Dawg are designed for vertical presentations. Most of my experience has been with Bondy's in late open water for muskies. Very impressive results..... not reason they shouldn't work on trophy pike thru the ice.

Yep, they do work. Bondys and Fuzzy Duzzits are my primary pike jigging presentations for bigger fish. I'll use a 1oz Rattletrap to call them in (these also work well) and once there are pike curious enough to feed I'll switch over to a Bondy or a Fuzzy Duzzit because where the smaller pike will go after a rattle bait without hesitation, these same smaller fish seem to be a bit leary of the larger bait.
I'll also pop an extra hole near my tip-ups and when I'm checking those I'll bring the pike rod along and jig for a few minutes. I primarily use dead-bait and since a rattletrap will get their attention and bring them over if they don't want the artificial bait being jigged there is a hunk of dead meat there for them as well.

Yep bondy baits. Red october tubes, dawgs, and Dussa's would prob all work as well.. they work well outta the boat drift jigging and casting.

Important presentation tip: Always let the lure fall on a "tight" line. Often the "strike" feels little more than a mere tick; sort of like a puny perch pecking at a piece of crawler. SET THE HOOK! :clap:
