Snap Shot Version:

*  Adult combo deer hunting license is $30 now...one day very soon, it might be $75
*  Adult all species fishing license is $28 now...one day very soon, it might be $40
*  The age at which anglers need a fishing license might change to 16
*  Without a voluntary fishing license, a child's catch might be considered as part of the adult's bag limit

Tons of other stuff too, though.  Their budget, it appears, is in serious jeopardy.  Thankfully, though, Proposal # 1 passed!

That would be rediculously large change in such a short period of time.  We are all wishing we would have got the lifetime tags a few years back now.

That would make us one of the highest charging states in the Union, is it a done deal or still just being proposed?  A sportsmans license in New York of all places (fishing, small game, rifle and bow) only costs $37!!!  I think its time to hold the DNR spending in check, and find out what programs they are funding, and do a little cost cutting.

When was the last time we had a change in price?  I cant remember.  Also--Some of the blame belongs at the feet of the Repuublican Legislature that had a Repub governor til 4 years ago to wow us with their fiscal responsibility and they did nothing but increase the deficit.

Republican Democrat there usually isent much difference at the end. It would be nice to have a real Conservative for Governor.

It's been a long time sice we've had a license increase and it's needed to keep up with the times. If they don't get the increase there is going to be a big cutback in stocking programs.I think that the threat of such a large jump in license prices is put out there to "scare" ya.Then when it only goes up 5-10 bucks you'll think you dodged the bullet and settle for it...

Well said skull.  I mean even if we have to pay $40 for an all species fishing license it sounds great to me.  We can fish year round in world class fisheries for pennies a day.

because proposal 1 passed, however, now the legislation seems to think since they cant just use the money for their needs, they will just not give it to the DNR in the First place....State funding for the DNR will be Cut SUBSTANTIALLY....makin g them rely on Fees/license $$ to fund themselves.

I can't wait to hear where they "promise" the added revenue goes. Very close to NONE of the money we spend on license fees goes back to hunting or fishing management.

Yup, Our liscense fees did go up a couple years ago. Not only do they want to raise hunting and fishing liscense fees but also camping permits and trail permit fees on our snowmachines and 4 wheelers. i know most of us use these in our hunting and fishing adventures. Yup, Michigan is really gettin to be a good place to be from.  Steve
