I guess that they are much smarter than you. You answer every time!

I am thinking the weekend after for no ice. I may make it a 4 day trip too!

I got a call this AM from Tom. He said the lake now has leads and "may" go out in the next few days. Larson Bay is clear.

So next weekend for sure then...sweet the wife is headed to fairbanks for the week for work so I may just swing up that way with some secert weapons and see what happens. SOOOO do the fish need the water to warm a tad before they get frisky or is ice out good? Headed to PWS in about an hour for 4 days of shrimping fishing and bear hunting looks like a great weekend to be on the water.

I hope to head out Thursday or Friday AM. Friday night at the latest. I need a break from the real world. Call me if you want more info on the fishing.

Well got a few shrimp 3 halibut and a 6'4" blackie. Woulda shoulda got two more BUT the commercial drift fisherman were all over the place right in front of our bait stand so it was LOUD all weekend. We were going through 120lbs of bait a night at the stands but only saw one as it was just too loud during the "prime" time. Zero bugs which was great..Water like glass all weekend.

Dube
Head for the extreme shallows.
I look for areas with sand bottom and incoming streams/rivers.
Troll T60's as shallow as 18" of water.
Look for the warmest water possible 49-52 degrees is perfect.
You may not find any that warm yet but as I said look for the warmest water you can find (think North shore bays with incoming water).
I have caught fish ing water as cold as 36 degrees but they will gather in the warm stuff if they can find it.

According to this, what Dube needs to do is fish 30 feet in front of my cabin while I am drinking beer. ;)

Or you can try longlining big spinners on the east side of the lake while doing s turns. Say 3-5 MPH.  Just a rumor that I heard.

Nope, if you are out and about tomorrow afternoon swing down to Foothills Drive (mile 5 KGB), take the second left and go to the 2nd from the end. 5060 Sun something or other.....1st is Kiana..... I'll give you a bit of insight. Bring maps.

Well there Mr "I'm not going to be your friend on Facebook" I will have to check reservations for next weekend. ;) It appears that I will have a pretty full house though. They all had to work this weekend and have next off. It is time for a Minwax/Timberflex party!

You still haven't shot a bear...... tsk tsk. I've seen 4 in the last 2 weeks, they are everywhere!

Just a heads up..... you need to come out when the place isn't full of people and there is room in the boat.

Seems like all the bears are hanging out in town right were you cann't shoot them.  My wife saw one in the backyard last week.  If it would of been inside the fence it probably would have got a sharp stick in the forehead.

Kyle and the HAVE Alaska disabled Vets got 10 for 10. Maybe you ought to head out toward their area? I haven't thought of baiting bears in my area. I don't know how easy it would be to get a mile away from a cabin. I heard that there are a few brownies hanging around. We need to get them off the calf snacks.

You only need to be a quarter mile away and in some areas you are allowed to shoot brownies over bait.  Don't quote me on that, I don't bait so I don't know all the rules.  I'm just going off of heresay.  There is always human bait for those brownies, just make sure your a good shot.

Lots of bears at the Russian.
And the rubes leaving their stringers and packs around are the bait.
  ;D
