Anyone fish Alex Bay Area or goose bay for perch? If so, any reports. Haven't seen much anywhere about how the bite is. Thanks

I would say the beach or taft they both looked fine today , there were small ponds of water that were almost 5-6" deep could be some on the east end that could be deeper ,due to the west wind

AW maybe my lucky streak played out

I was the only person out of Taft tonight. I walked the crack for about 50 yards. It was open at least 18" the whole way and up to a few feet at points. I personally wouldn't want to cross it with a wheeler, at least off to the right of the access where I was.

As for the fishing. All the big perch I found during walleye season were gone. Seems only the dinks and burbot stuck around.

I had an enjoyable day on the ice today. Made 5 moves and caught perch at 4 of those spots. The trouble was, they were all dinks and dinkettes except for 2 . Staggering number of small perch out there. 12 , 15, 18 and 20fow. Bent the jig rod good on a pickerel and 2 burbots ,one snapped me off at the hole and took my jig.
Those jumbos have got to be somewhere...maybe mid lake to the south shore.
Ice started to tighten up and get slick about 6 pm...a lot of wind blown bare spots. Some water under a thin crust of ice in spots, and more slushy wet spots near shore. Cleats and spikes will help in the morning.Good luck out there tomorrow.

I'm going to try and eat this ...
My boots on some ice... A line down a hole...Some fish on the screen... And a flag in the air !......Winter is Good !!

Got out of Oneida shores this am. Marked a few dinks and caught a few, been at skaneateles for the last 3 weeks. My apologies to the big o, but it sounds like I missed a quiet close to one season and a tight lipped almost finish to the ice perch season. The other lake has been a little more generous and an occaisionally laker but not bonkers better, the bite starts early and stops sudden. But the meat is sweet. Headed back to Oneida tomorrow(sat), out on the other side of the beach. South wind kills the ritzy lake. Good luck and tight lines to all.

Hey snag, what did you mean by the public having problems coming? I enjoy reading your post and have learned a ton from you and bcons , thank you both. I do realize I'm leaving people out of the list, it's a great thread for sure.

The past 3 days have been incredible fishing. I was lucky enough to limit out each day and add 21 pounds of fillets to the freezer.  The wind was brutal today and I got smacked by a run away ice shanty. As I was watching a guy try to catch his bucket that was blowing across the ice in front of me I heard at guy in back of me yelling.  I turned around just in time to see the shanty flying at me as the owner tried to catch it.  Yeah that hurt........bring your creepers the ice is slick

What size screw was that?  ;)  How many inches (or fractions thereof)/turn do you get?   @)
1/2 to 3/4 inches per crank.  It was a 6" Nils.
My 4.5" Nils (Orange) with an 18 volt Snap-On drill cut 20 inches of ice in 5 to 7 seconds  ;)
