I wanted to add to my post about fishing BB Saturday, it was the first time I used the Elite 4 in shallow weedy conditions, and I have to say I am impressed  It was fast and accurate picking up even the smallest jig in my box, verticals and horizontals all showed up in 6.2 FOW with weed cover. All in all I have to say so far this unit is the best value on the market  ;)

X2 - I get the most out of mine by using it year round too. Winter on the ice and spring, summer & fall on the jon boat. Just clip the transducer to the transom, and set the ice pack on the seat and you're in business.

Thanks for the responses guys. My son will be OK. He's still a little sensitive to bright light, but heading back to Oswego for classes tomorrow. The other stuff is just normal crap that happens sometimes. Nothing that can't be fixed. Grateful for that. It's the bad days that make the good days better...and make them perch taste so good!!

Zach--thanks for the idea on the ski wax. I am going to replace a couple of my hyfax runners, and I may try that. I've been paying attention to your posts. You are one of the biggest diehards on this site IMHO. Waking up at 2:30 to drive to the lake and hike out on snowshoes and fishing dark-til-dark...getting it done with your own custom made rods. You da man Bro!
Always remember .... they have a brain the size of a pea! How hard can it be? ???

I also have the Elite 4 and the wife got me the ice pack for it last year. For the money it's awesome for sure. Lots of bells and whistles on it that I'm still learning though. Have you used the flasher mode yet DD?

lake was pretty barren today......this snow/slush sucks......never got on the ice till 9:30 or so today...too damn cold.....not many guys out.....pretty good snowmobile trail heading out past dutchmans island, just gotta watch the slush pocket on the inside of the island.....just gunned it and made it thru no problem.....brought home 9 perch with 5 being good ones and 4 marginal at best....had 2 at least 13".....marked tons of good fish but they are very lethargic .....3 pin pike also....when this warm spell hits it is going to be a mess out there I'm afraid....anywhere from 10" to 20" of snow....my old '96 formula 583 handles it nicely ;D..................... ........sorry to hear about your son Jim.....hope he feels better

I went back and forth between the Flasher and graph. I like the flasher shallow and graph deep.

Hey Hookinup you used to work with a guy named Mike Birchinoff? He was talking about a guy he used to work with that fished Oneida a lot. He was talking about how you were showing him a picture of all the burbot you got there that one day this ice fishing season. The name sound familiar?
It'll eat.

:-* :-* :-*
There's a reason no one thought could be Palermo or the Fulton area in general, there was a word more than a primal grunt or single syllable.
Thought you especially would've noticed.....
Everything is shorter in "south swigo"
Down in dem dare parts deys talkn silly but short, & to da point.
End of story
 :P
See ya had to get me started! I was gonna play nice today too
 :P
