Nice job Sully, 31 jumbos is a hell of a day. Hit the north shore today. After a cold start things heated up very nicely. Luckily so did the fishing. Marked very few fish and none of them would hit so it looked like a long day. Lot of people around us and it seemed like everybody was having the same problem. Moved 5 or 6 times before I got any action. Iced 12 keeper eyes; number 13 relieved me of my jigging rap. Final fish of the day was a scrappy ling which was released to fight another day.  Strange thing was all of my eyes came around 1:00 in bright sunlight - hardly prime time for walleyes.

I love md day

Nice job pman and sully. Barometer started dropping good at 11AM, might have something to do with the midday bite.

I went off Lewis today.  Started right off marking all kinds of fish, none would commit.  Finally managed to get an 18 1/2" eye.  I should've stayed at that hole for the rest of the day, but I figured I'd see if I could find fish that actually wanted to bite!  Brought up a nice 17" smallmouth in my search.  I went back to my original hole and it was dead.  I think I had 1 looker.  So I packed it up, and was off the ice by 3.  Plan on getting back at it on Saturday!!  Way to go pman & sully!!

Hi all, At the west end of the lake there is Oneida Shores County Park. For people with machines, would it be a viable location to access the lake. Big Bay and the islands are visible there and I wondered if there would be any safety issues or concerns heading out from there. The use of this facility could help relieve congestion at some of the access points, lots of parking, close to Rte 81 and Bartell Rd Bait Shop in Brewerton. I have seen some walkers fishing in front of the park. Any Thoughts ?

I certainly wouldn't recommend that unless you know the lake & ice conditions well.  Traveling from there to Big Bay would lead you right across the channel & bad ice unless you gave it a really wide berth.   Some do fish right in front of the beach without trying to cross.  Some locals & residents that know the area well travel with no problems.  However advising others to do so, or just posting on an open board probably not the greatest idea. jmho

Beautiful day off the North shore. Racer and I did well. I got 6 keepers, 9 shorts, 5 perch and 2 bourbot....and of course I dumped some at the hole. Had to work my butt of to get what I got, they really were not that aggressive. As far as the lake goes, don't plan on moving very fast....glare ice with snow bumps, very choppy.

Another great day on the lake.  Pooch had the hot hand today.  He just stacked em up!  I fought right to the end for my last keeper.  Just one of those days for me I guess.  Oh well I learned alot and occupied myself with the perch in between.  Back again in the morning.

Nice job sully. I couldn't have been far from you and I was in dink city.  My worst day I can remember, 1 11" perch and a boat load of 6-7" ers. Back at it tomorrow.

I only ended up with 15 to bring home. Five were 9 1/2" the other ten were bigger but none larger than 11 1/2". Lots of fish on the screen, lots of dinks. Nice seeing you today sully. Must have missed you chummer.

I moved a lot trying to escape the dinks. Never could get away from them.

I have ice fished quite a bit on Oneida now but have never caught a white perch.  Just wondering what part of the lake and depth people catch them in.  I know a lot of people consider them a nuisance and not great to eat but I think they are about as good as a yellow perch and wouldn't mind catching them.

This is a rant to the scumbag or scumbags who threw the 10-12 burbots on the ice out by 130 ! You sir or sirs are TRUE sportsmen. Take them over and let them go in another hole or leave them in a bucket till you leave. Your probably the same person who left the 18 pack of beer cans and 4 empty propane cylinders out there. Sorry for the rant

It's not that fishing is so important, it's just that so many things in life are so much less important
