Hope the wind lays down a little..I'd like to run tip downs during the afternoon lull. And sully I'll get ahold of you in the morning!

Hi guy's, was wondering if you could help a novice out?  Next weekend my brother and I are going to Oneida to try and get on some perch, was wondering the best place to go out of, we will be on foot.  Also any spots to avoid as in gas pockets, I heard there are some out there.  Not trying to steal any goods spots or any thing, just a two day trip and 3 hr drive one way for us, just was looking for some help to get on some.  Thanks in advance!

I am fairly new myself but have been having good luck near north bay with the perch, exit I-90 at canastota, take rt.13 north thru sylvan beach, hang a left on lakeshore drive and you'll see the parking area on the right.  There's places to stay the night in sylvan if you decide. Get out to 25-30 foot of water, you'll want to get there early to get parking though

the easiest place would be to fish out of chapman park off route 31 in lakeport. Just head straight out and you will see the shanties.

How's the gill and crappie action in Big Bay?  My daughters have a half day tomorrow and I was planning on taking them out in the afternoon.  Any suggestions on where to park (Big Bay Marina or off Kellar Road) so that we can be right on the fish without a long walk?  Also, is there a particular depth to target?  Thanks.

Thanks wallperch and cusefan78! Hoping for the best, this is probably the only time I will ever be able to do this kind of trip....at least until I'm retired that is  ;D...Which most likely will put me into my eighties and I'm not sure how a Rascal will work on ice??  ;D

Official weight was 15.65, state record is 16.85 ....Missed it by an ounce or so.  That pic is now circulating the net, I saw someone post it saying it went 19 lbs, and was 44 inches long!! LOL!

I'll give you a ring if I find any cooperative schools of stripers in the next couple days.

A big thank you to the kind hearted fishermen that let me borrow their auger after mine with new blades just made ice shavings!   Wish i could say that the fishing has been great but at least i am able to fish because of their generosity.   Fishing out of Chapman..... nada so far

Thanks to Hilty, he helped me out this morning. I lost 1 of my blades off my auger so I was done before I got started but then came Hilty.  He happened to have spares, thanks again.
Ended up with 3 eyes ,3 shorts and 3 jumbos and alot better attitude than it looked like I was going to have. ;D

Nice job sully. I couldn't have been far from you and I was in dink city.  My worst day I can remember, 1 11" perch and a boat load of 6-7" ers. Back at it tomorrow.

Nice job Sully, 31 jumbos is a hell of a day. Hit the north shore today. After a cold start things heated up very nicely. Luckily so did the fishing. Marked very few fish and none of them would hit so it looked like a long day. Lot of people around us and it seemed like everybody was having the same problem. Moved 5 or 6 times before I got any action. Iced 12 keeper eyes; number 13 relieved me of my jigging rap. Final fish of the day was a scrappy ling which was released to fight another day.  Strange thing was all of my eyes came around 1:00 in bright sunlight - hardly prime time for walleyes.
