was wondering why no one trys to start a tournament for blue gills and pickeral on big bay? sounds like it would make a nice lil tournament 20 gills per team heavyest weight and pool for largest pickeral by weight. just a thought i guess.
it's all about finesse! tight lines and clean holes!

looking at onieda web cam it looks like alot of snow is gone off ice?
was very bumpy sunday....lots of hard drifts making traveling a little slower unless you want your gear scattered all over the shanty....still good for both sleds and wheelers....just slow down a bit

I am from ohio and were thinking of coming up. Anybody know if your sled or atv needs a special sticker to ride on the lake.

.  If you read these posts you will see the regulars like Shane and Fred pretty much crush em all the time. I would never ask them there specific spots but just from reading you can get a great idea where to fish. I do well finding my own spots. Pretty much fish the breaks on the north shore and move around.  There are mature walleyes all over.  This lake is filthy with them.  Thanks to all the locals who have given valuable info over the years. I've just started fishing this lake the last few years due to a friend buying a cottage on the north shore. I won't fish anywhere else now. Honestly A blind man can catch walleyes here. It is an awesome fishery

Dead bait on the bottom will get you more burbot  ;)   Run your line through an egg sinker, tie on a split ring and a good ball bearing swivel .  Run a 2 foot leader with a treble hook and a dead shiner, perch belly meat, or a bunch of smaller dead minnows.
Set your drag very light or leave the bail open in a rod holder.  It won't take long for a burbot to find your bait !
They're beginning to move to the shoals to spawn.

Hey Fred - can't get too down on the meth-heads; I could of used some of that stuff when you yanked that treble out of my finger  ;D. Still can't believe what little damage was done by your extraction. All kidding aside, you are absolutely correct in being concerned over what chemicals these genius' dumped into the lake - just unbelievable. What's next - graffiti and gang symbols on the ice? Ooooops, I might have given you and the north shore thugs some ideas.

Fished Taft this afternoon, parking lot was mt and so was the ice.  Nasty ride out with all the drifts causing bumps. The fish that I marked were active, ended up with12 jumbos, miss more than that.
