StrikeMaster Bait Puck?
« on: Jan 21, 2022, 09:59 AM »
Does anyone use the large StrikeMaster Bait Puck for overnight storage of waxies? A couple of days? There are small holes in the lid, but I'm concerned that they will not get enough oxygen to survive.

Thanks,
Mark

Ive used them the past few years.  Last year I forgot about my waxies and spikes until mid spring.  Opened the puck and found moths and flies crawling around.  I have waxies from 2 weeks ago in my refrigerator butter drawer in the door now.

bait stays live for a long time in bait puck. Don't refrigerate waxes- too cold. I keep mine in unheated basement 40 to 50 degrees. Do refrigerate spikes.

Good advice and did not know that about waxies.  How long do waxies last if properly stored?

With waxies in regular size Strikemaster bait pucks I store them in the cool end of the basement. I crack the lid open slightly to be sure there's enough air, and have had no problems.

They claim the lid is breathable.  I store mousies, spikes and meal worms in pucks in the fridge.

I keep my spikes and waxies in the butter tray. She doesn't mind because it's MY Beergerator, not her fridge.

Yup. I use the big one that holds my 1000 spikes and keep it in the crisper drawer of fridge. Take what I need each trip and use the smaller pucks. Buy them the first of December and still good months later.

I leave the waxies in the puck and they will last me more than a week

How well do mousies hold up in a fridge? I bought some last weekend and have not checked on them since I got off the water around noon on sunday.
